Applications are now being accepted for the summer undergraduate research program in The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. One of the main features of the Summer Urological Research Experience (or SURE) program is a series of lectures and seminars presented by our gifted faculty that are geared towards allowing the students to transition the knowledge that they have gained into ideas at the bench. A close link between the Department's clinical operations and its research efforts give students a unique opportunity to see how discoveries in research can be translated into patient care. Since the foundation and purpose of this program is to train and prepare young scientists for the future, we have enhanced the program with some additional features that will hopefully equip them as they progress as both students and scientific professionals: seminars/lectures on career development, journal club, and opportunities for career/social networking. I should point out that all of this knowledge and experience comes with a stipend made possible by various funding sources, but primarily through grant that we recently received from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases of the National Institutes of Health.
Information about the program and application instructions can be found at

The application deadline is March 1.
