On Thursday, Feb. 9, the Hoff Theater will show an advanced screening of a new comedy film, “VAMPS.” The film is about vampires in modern-day New York City faced with daunting romantic possibilities. It is written and directed by Amy Heckerling (“Clueless” and “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”). “VAMPS” stars Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Kristen Johnston, Sigourney Weaver and Richard Lewis. It is expected to open in theaters nationwide in late spring.

The special screening comes to College Park thanks to University of Maryland alumna, Lauren Versel ’77 (ARHU). Lauren is a producer of the film and she will be at the screening to participate in a Q & A moderated by Leigh Smiley, associate professor in Theater Studies. Please note, this is a private screening open only to the campus community (no press, please).

Tickets are available at the Hoff box office. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the film begins at 6 p.m. The Q&A with Lauren will follow the film.
