PART TIME POSITION AVAILABLE - USDA Beltsville

DUTIES STATEMENT  
This part time position is located in the Animal and Natural Resources Institute, Animal Parasitic Diseases Laboratory in Beltsville, Maryland.  The incumbent actively participates in one or more phases of the research process by providing technical support to include: work that involves research on Avian Immunology of Mucosa Diseases, using biology techniques and procedures to study host immune response and to develop a new vaccine against poultry infectious diseases; Performs routine and recurring techniques and studies using a variety of specialized equipment; maintains, calibrates and modifies equipment and automated systems; collects, prepares, evaluates, and verifies samples and supporting records; maintains records and locates and compiles data and other information from various sources; maintains inventory of chemicals, prepares solution and reagents and safely disposes of chemicals; keeps detailed records of experimental data; tabulates, statistically analyzes and summarizes data using a personal computers and software packages; keeps work-site in a neat and orderly manner. Small animal work is mandatory.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree with major being in biology, chemistry,  entomology, animal husbandry, botany, or agriculture.
