Research Assistant/Technician

DEPARTMENT: Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics
STARTING SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
ADDITIONAL SALARY INFO: Full-time, contractual, benefits eligible.

DUTIES: The Research Assistant/Technician will assist other lab members
with
research into bacterial pathogenesis, gene regulation, and protein
biochemistry. The
position will require maintaining active research projects under the
supervision of the PI,
including experimentation, data analysis, animal studies, troubleshooting
and preparation
for publication. In addition, the Research Assistant will perform a
variety of functions
vital for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including: ordering
supplies, tracking
lab expenses, overseeing maintenance of equipment, and organizing lab
materials.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a strong science background, with
either a
B.S. degree (in biology, microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, or
chemistry) or an
M.S. degree (research based). Previous experience with molecular biology,
laboratory
animals, and/or biochemical techniques is preferred, but enthusiasm and
organizational
skills are essential. Extensive training will be provided.
