Personal statements are the best way for applicants to shine for the admissions committees of graduate schools, scholarships, and internships. Unfortunately, personal statements are also one of the most difficult genres in which to write. Writing Center Assistant Director Maria Gigante breaks down how applicants can best stand out from the field by tailoring their personal statements to admissions committees' criteria.
