The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF)
releases the results from their 2012 exit poll of Maryland Asian
American voters. This event will also honor Judge David Valderrama,
the first Filipino American elected to a state legislature in the
continental U.S.



Apr. 11| SCREENING OF VINCENT WHO?

This documentary re acts upon a 1982 hate crime that galvanized the Asian
American community. It explore the legacy of victim Vincent Chin through
interviews with key players at the time as well as a whole new generation
of activists. It also looks at the case in relation to the larger narrative
of Asian
American history, in such events as Chinese Exclusion, Japanese American
Internment in WWII, the 1992 L.A. Riots, anti-Asian hate crimes,
and post-9/11 racial pro ling.

Stephanie Hinnershitz, PhD candidate in History on Chinese,
Filipino, and Japanese Students and West Coast Civil Rights, 1900-1968
