Be a Part of the Genome Zone

In June of 2013, the National Museum of Natural History in partnership
with the National Institutes of Healthıs National Human Genome Research
Institute will open the exhibit, GENOME: Unlocking Lifeıs Code. The
exhibit celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Human Genome Projectıs
landmark achievement - the first complete sequencing of the human genome.
In tandem with this exhibition, the National Museum of Natural History has
also created The Genome Zone to serve as an exciting interactive space
next to the main exhibit.

In the Genome Zone visitors can isolate their own DNA, find out which
genetic traits they share with other visitors, learn how genomics have
helped identify new species and other fun activities that enhance their
understanding of genomics. The Genome Zone will also feature fascinating
scientists solving the mysteries of the genome and discussions around
ethical, legal, and social implications of genomics.

This is an opportunity to join the Genome Zone team as a volunteer. We are
looking for volunteers of all ages, but want to especially encourage young
adults ages 16 and up to apply.
