IMMEDIATE OPENING (June 2013) FOR FULL-TIME RESEARCH ASSISTANT - LAB ANIMAL TECHNICIAN
Institute for Systems Research, University of Maryland, College Park
DESCRIPTION: Will work with a team of researchers in a laboratory studying neurobiology of hearing - and coordinate day-to-day animal research, behavioral testing and animal care. Will oversee the care and health of animals. Other duties include placing orders for lab supplies, and managing lab. Will also coordinate and analyze behavior databases, participate in behavioral testing of animals, and in neuroanatomical studies and physiological research. Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in Biology, Zoology, Psychology, Neuroscience or related fields, some previous research experience working with animals, general knowledge of animal care and husbandry, and an interest in auditory neuroscience and behavior.
