The Data Science MD meetup is a gathering of professionals, students, and
enthusiasts living and working in the Maryland area that discusses diverse
topics related to data science. We aim to have frank discussions on all
topics related to the field of data analytics. No subject is too big or
too small, as we believe analytics can operate on any scale. We plan to
mix education with practical examples, helping members make the most of
their time. Presentations are typically once a month and are free events
with dinner included. The dinner portion coincides with networking time
where members can make connections with other members working in data
science fields. We have many members who are either startup founders or
recruiters for companies. We also have sponsors for each event, most of
whom are always looking to hire good talent.

The next event is in September and features the award winning Dr. Jeff
Leek from Johns Hopkins University. He will be speaking about his efforts
in creating a data science/data analysis course as a part of the
statistics portion of biostatistics as well as transitioning from
classroom instruction to Coursera instruction.
