Subject: Join us this Friday! Benefit concert for Palestine! Spoken word,
stand up comedy, rap...
Description:
As many of you know, Muslims Without Borders (now United Muslim Relief) at
the University of Maryland and George Mason University are having a Benefit
Concert for Palestinian Relief this Friday November 8th! I'd like to
personally invite each of you to come! It'll be a lot of fun and you would be
supporting a great cause! Funds from your ticket would be entirely a donation
towards UMR's Palestine projects that include dental relief, the Alrowwad
Theater & Culture Society and Trade Justice.
Muslims Without Borders Dental Relief, in collaboration with the Palestinian
Children’s Relief Fund, had the honor of providing aid to over 200
Palestinian children. Many of the patients presented with Down Syndrome,
autism, cerebral palsy, and hearing impairment among other conditions.
Emphasis was placed on preventative as well as restorative dentistry.
Alrowwad (Pioneers for life) is a cultural and theater-training center and
registered Not-for-profit established in 1998 and registered as a
Not-For-Profit organization on August 2003. An initiator of "Beautiful,
Non-violent Resistance", it which strives to empower children and women by
targeting behavior, knowledge, concepts and practices through beautiful and
non-violent means. This center prevents children from falling into the
violence that surrounds them on a daily basis and serves as a mode of therapy
for children during the ongoing conflict.
Devastating amounts of agriculture, cattle and sheep farms have been
destroyed in the conflict leading to food price hikes that leave families in
despair. United Muslim Relief provides Trade Justice education and aid
allowing the farmers a fair price for their goods and thus a sustainable
lifestyle to support their families. With better support, the Palestinian
farmers are then able to cultivate more land and use it effectively.
Again, all proceeds will go towards these projects and you will be
entertained with the area's BEST performers including Noor Tagouri, Jinahie,
Omar Offendum, Mo Sabri, Preacher Moss and Azhar Usman (of Allah Made Me
Funny) and ANX-Alman Nusrat.
