Subject: Social Innovation Challenge
Description:
Do you have an innovative idea or project that
could address hunger, education and sustainability?
Broadcaster Tavis Smiley and the University of Maryland are on the lookout
for transformative solutions to affect positive change for people and
communities across the country. As part of the inaugural $75,000 TS/UM Social
Innovation Challenge, we want to support three promising social innovators
that can contribute to the eradication of hunger, the elevation of education,
and the heightened use of sustainability to address social challenges.
Three social innovators, one in each of the target impact areas, will be
awarded $25,000. Additionally, they will have an opportunity to appear on the
Tavis Smiley Network, receive an entrepreneur mentorship at the Clark
School’s Maryland Technology Enterprise Institute (Mtech), and showcase
their innovation at Platform Summit 2014.
Submissions are due by October 13, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Winners will be
announced in January 2014.
