I am writing you today about an exciting paid internship opportunity for
your undergraduate and graduate students for the summer of 2013.

Details:
Location:  Hagerstown, MD and Frederick, MD Dates & Time:  June
10th-August 16th, from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
Paid:  Yes  (based on completed semester hours)
What:  Mentoring & teaching elementary, middle, and high school students
in STEM labs. 
Travel and Accommodation: Not covered

The United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command places a
great emphasis on broadening students' interest in science, technology,
engineering and mathematics to inspire them to consider careers in these
fields. One of the ways we hope to accomplish this is through our summer
STEM program called GEMS (Gains in the Education of Mathematics and
Science).   

U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease (USAMRIID) Fort
Detrick Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Sciences (GEMS)
near-peer mentor is responsible for guiding middle school and high school
student interns through science and engineering experiments. The mentor
will complete training prior to the start of the program. The training
session will teach the mentor how to relate to students, present
experiments, and practice the planned curriculum.  College students are
eligible to apply for a near-peer mentor internship position that lasts
from June 10th-August 16th.
