IT Student Internship Position
The Departmental Appeals Board (DAB) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) seeks applicants for a 1-year, part-time (up to 20 hrs./wk.), paid ($13.00/hr.) Information Technology student internship position. The selected applicant will receive assignments and direction from the DAB’s IT Project Manager. Primary duties include providing customer support to DAB staff, managing IT equipment, licenses, and peripherals, assisting in the development and implementation of IT projects. The selected applicant must have a strong work ethic and excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and computer skills, including a high-level of proficiency working with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Pro, and ability to create macros and templates. The applicant must also have knowledge and experience working with Video Teleconference, digital recording equipment, and telecommunication peripherals.
The DAB is comprised of 3 adjudicatory bodies that provide impartial, independent review of disputed decisions in a wide range of HHS programs, such as Medicare and Head Start. The DAB resolves disputes with outside parties such as state agencies, Head Start grantees, universities, nursing homes, doctors, and Medicare beneficiaries. The DAB generally issues the final decision for HHS, which may then be appealed to federal court. The DAB also has a leadership role in implementing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) across the agency. The DAB’s ADR responsibilities include providing ADR services and training and coordinating and facilitating negotiated rulemaking committees.
Mandatory requirements: Must be currently enrolled in school, must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word/Access is a must), must provide transcripts by interview date.
