Subject: fMRI Study: Participants Needed
Description:
The Laboratory of Cognition and Emotion led by Dr. Pessoa is looking for
participants in a brain scan (fMRI) study we are currently conducting. The
study is a visual discrimination task that involves "highly unpleasant but
not painful" electric stimulation to the fingertips during the scan. All
participants will set their own maximum level of electric stimulation. The
scan takes place at the Maryland Neuroimaging Center, which is right off
campus. The scan lasts 75 minutes, with a total experiment time of
approximately 1 hr and 45 minutes. Compensation is $30/hour during the scan.
To be eligible for the study, participants must: be 18-40; be right-handed;
not have metal anywhere in the body; not wear glasses (contacts are fine);
not have any history of neurological or psychological problems or be on any
psychoactive medications or drugs; not be claustrophobic or color-blind; not
be pregnant or have heart disease; not have participated in any studies that
involves looking at faces.
