What: Chem 135 (3 credits) is required of all Engineering
Majors. It is designed to
meet the needs of students enrolled or planning
to enroll in the
Clark School of Engineering.
When: Summer Session II, July 8 - Aug 16, 2013 (enrollment
minimum of
16). Chem 135 is an intensive 6 week course
with full contact time
and rigor. The class meets daily for 80 minute
lectures and twice
per week for 80 minute problem-solving
Discussion Periods.
Basic The nature and composition of matter, solutions, chemical
reactions, equilibria
coverage: and electrochemistry, with applications to various fields of
engineering.

Math: Perform dimensional analysis, simple derivations,
simultaneous equations, quadratic equations,
solutions by successive
approximation, basic algebra and algebra of logarithms.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of precalculus.
Chem 136 lab: The companion laboratory course (1 credit) will be offered
with an enrollment
of 20 or more.
