Subject: Exploring Careers in a Scientific Environment Symposium

Description:
We would like to invite students at your school who are interested in careers
in medical, biological research and/or bio-defense to join us for an
"Exploring Careers in a Scientific Environment Symposium" on Thursday,
November 6, 2014. The goal of the symposium is to highlight career paths for
students while presenting an overview of research conducted at Fort Detrick
and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at Frederick campuses by the various
National Interagency Confederation for Biological Research (NICBR) partners.
The NICBR is a partnership of federal government agencies with laboratories
on the Fort Detrick and NCI at Frederick campuses, including the U.S. Army;
Department of Homeland Security; Department of Agriculture; U.S. Navy; NCI
and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the
National Institutes of Health; Food and Drug Administration; and Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention.

Sign-in for the symposium will begin at 8:00 a.m., with events held from 9:00
a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and tours extending until 4:00 p.m. During the morning,
representatives from the various NICBR laboratories will discuss different
potential career paths available at their agencies, as well as describe
research programs and opportunities for internships and fellowships. Some
agencies will offer tours at their respective laboratories in the afternoon.
All participants should register before the event at
http://ncifrederick.cancer.gov/events/NECSES/default.asp.

The deadline for registration is October 18, 2014.
