Subject: Know your Rights as an Employee

Description:
Know your Rights as an Employee - A workshop presented by The Council on
American Islamic Relations (CAIR)
Thursday, October 10, 2013 • 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
Location: University Career Center & The President’s Promise (3rd Floor
Hornbake Library, South Wing)

With the goal of educating the community about their rights and
responsibilities from a legal perspective, CAIR civil rights attorneys
present information about the rights of individuals as employees in this
interactive workshop. The workshop will cover the specific laws that protect
individual’s employment rights, outline religious accommodations in the
workplace, discuss fairness in hiring/firing/promotions, and provide concrete
steps and resources on how to deal with workplace discrimination. This
presentation includes an interactive PowerPoint presentation followed by a
Q&A session. After the workshop, participants will know basic civil rights
laws and their application and be empowered to contact CAIR to report a
complaint should they ever be faced with a challenge.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is the largest Muslim civil
rights advocacy organization in the United States. With chapters across more
than 28 states, CAIR works to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage
dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build
coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. For more
information, visit us on the web at www.cair.com.
