Subject: University of Maryland Summer Technicians

Description: University of Maryland Summer Technicians (3 months, full-time)
The Entomology Department at the College Park campus is seeking summer
technicians to assist in conducting field studies of the biology and
management of insect populations in various agricultural crops from late May
to the end of August. The work involves planting and maintaining plots of
crops, setting up irrigation, rearing insects and manually introducing them
to plants, harvesting crops, and collected data to evaluate management
treatments. If you want the experience of working on a farm, this is it. All
studies will be conducted at several UMD Research Farm Facilities and on
campus. Will provide training and transportation and technicians will work
together as a team. Candidates must demonstrate enthusiasm for working
outdoors all day, sometimes under harsh environmental conditions. Wage
commensurate with experience. If you would like to also pursue a project with
this position, you can receive course credit as well as being paid. Required:
18 years or older; biology background and experience in agriculture is
