The Initiative on Community Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health
(CEEJH), and The Maryland Institute for Applied Environmental Health (MIAEH),
in the School of Public Health, are pleased to invite you to attend the
"Third Annual Symposium on Environmental Justice and Environmental Health
Disparities in Maryland and Washington, DC."
The goal of this year’s symposium is to expand the discussion on the
Chesapeake Bay to include environmental justice and health issues with a
focus on vulnerable and at-risk populations who live in the region, and rely
on the ecological goods and services of the Chesapeake Bay and rivers and
streams in the watershed. Some of the many topics will include:
Industrial Animal Agriculture in the Bay: Disproportionate Burden and
Health Issues
Chesapeake Bay and Children’s Environmental Health
Urban Fisher Folk, Recreational Exposures, and Health Disparities
Fracking in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania: Risks, Impacts, and
Disparities
Food Environments, Security, and Health Disparities: What Can We Do to
Improve Access and Sustainability?
Climate Change and Resiliency on the Eastern Shore
