Join the American Medical Student Association for a very special event! We
are thrilled to be hosting Dr. J Carson Smith, Assistant Professor in the
Department of Kinesiology at the UMD School of Public Health. Dr. Smith is
focused on understanding how exercise and physical activity affect human
brain function and mental health. We are also honored to be hosting Dr.
Marie A. Bernard, Deputy Director of the National Institute on Aging. NIA,
one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of NIH, leads a broad scientific
effort to understand the nature of aging and to extend the healthy, active
years of life. Dr. Bernard's research interests include nutrition and
function in aging populations, with particular emphasis upon ethnic
minorities. Both will be talking about the current state of Alzheimer's
research, and how undergraduate students can get involved in research,
awareness, and advocacy.
Please note that we will be starting promptly at 6:30 pm to accommodate our
speakers. Looking forward to seeing you tonight!
