Subject: Summer Research in Molecular Biology and Genomics
Description:
BSCI 348E: Genomics and Environmental Bacterial Contamination
This course is applies to upper level requirements for GENB, CEBG, and ECEV,
and can be counted as enrichment credit for all BSCI Specialization Areas.
Microbial contamination of waterways endangers human health, both directly
and through our food supply. This lab will introduce the concepts and process
of independent research, with an emphasis on methods related to molecular
biology and genomics, in order to identify the sources of microbial
contamination in local waterways.
Prerequisite: BSCI 222 (Principles of Genetics)
Summer Session I: June 6-July 13, MTW 9am-12pm, with an additional 8 hr/week
required in lab. The additional lab hours can be completed at the students'
discretion M-F between 9am and 5pm.
Please note: This course does not have a minimum number of registrants. It
will not be canceled in the event of low enrollment.
