Subject: Brain Assessment Research Lab Internship

Description:
We seek energetic, well-organized, detail-oriented, responsible individuals

to work as unpaid interns on a longitudinal clinical research project. This

work is conducted at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Fort

Belvoir Community Hospital. The research project, directed by Dr. Connie

Duncan, involves assessment of brain structure and function in injured
Service

Members with mild traumatic brain injury. Patients are followed over time to

evaluate clinical outcome, with an emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder

(PTSD). Brain indices include event-related brain potentials, neuroimaging,
and

neurocognitive performance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to,

scheduling subjects, escorting patients to appointments, data entry, data
quality

checking, and occasional administrative tasks such as photocopying, test and

interview folder assembling, and general cleaning of lab equipment.

Candidates with an excellent academic record, previous research experience

and/or experience with Microsoft Excel and data entry are highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment is essential.

This position is ideal for someone who seeks experience in clinical research.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and we request a commitment

of at least 8-10 hours/week during the school year and 10-15 hours/week

during the summer months.
