“Do I Stay Or Do I Go? An Exploration of Black Students’ Decisions to
Pursue STEM Degrees”
with Dr. W. Carson Byrd
W. Carson Byrd is currently an assistant professor in the Department of
Pan-African Studies at the University of Louisville. He is also the Associate
Director of the Center on Race and Inequality and an affiliate faculty member
in the Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research.
His research examines educational inequality, particularly black students’
experiences in higher education. Additionally, his research examines racial
conceptualization in academia in relation to genetics and genomics, and the
influence of racism on health and social psychological processes such as
identity development.
