Subject: START Countering Violent Extremism Program--Now Accepting
Applications

Description:
Are you a UMD Sophomore? Are you interested in understanding more about what
can be done to curb terrorism before radicalization occurs? Would you like to
work and research with leading experts in the field of radicalization and
countering violent extremism while earning a full tuition scholarship and
living stipend? Consider applying for The National Consortium for the Study
of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START)’s Countering Violent
Extremism Fellowship this fall!

As a part of this program you will receive:
· A full tuition scholarship for five semesters, two summer courses,
and one winter course,
· A monthly living stipend for two-and-a-half years, and,
· A travel and living stipend for two summers of research—one in
Chicago and one in Dubai.

In addition to the scholarship, you will engage in specialized coursework and
research on how to counter violent extremism and how to train others to
deploy these tactics on the ground. You will also participate in a suite of
programming developed by START to help develop professional skills to aid you
in securing employment in the homeland security enterprise after graduation
from UMD. This exciting new program has limited space—Apply today!
