Subject: Four Jobs Open at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for Recent B.S. &
M.S. Graduates

Description:
Through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), Oak Ridge
National Laboratory has four job openings for recent bachelor’s and
master’s graduates interested in quantitative ecology and software
engineering. Brief position descriptions are below:

Quantitative Ecologist – Post Bachelor’s Associate
Successful candidates will support quantitative ecology research which seeks
to understand how hydropower and bioenergy influence fish and wildlife in the
Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Big South Fork in East Tennessee
Applicants should possess strong quantitative skills, self-teaching
abilities, and programming experience in C++ and R, statistics, and
optimization. Coursework in computer science, quantitative subjects,
population genetics or environmental sciences is desirable
Applicants should be recent bachelor’s graduates who have not received
their degree more than three years prior to the date of application

development, implementation, documentation, and delivery of new software
capabilities for the Bellerophon Environment Analysis of Materials (BEAM)
project at ORNL
Applicants should have specific technical skills, including object-oriented
software design, software development using Eclipse IDE, development of
multi-threaded, user-friendly desktop application with Java and Swing, Linux
shell programming in Bash, etc.
Applicants should be recent bachelor’s graduates in computer science,
physics, or engineering, and have not received their degree more than three
years prior to the date of application
