This is a week filled with AMSA events!

Please join us this upcoming *Tuesday, November 4th*, for our *Healthy
Heart Advocacy* event from *9am – 4pm* at *Hornbake Plaza*. Stop by our
table to write a fitness goal on a heart so that we can display them on a
clothesline around the plaza! You can also participate in a short
cardio-activity to strengthen that heart of yours! Then again, why not do
both?? Help us promote and spread awareness of heart health among the UMD
community!

Later that evening at *7:30pm*, we will also be having our *4th GBM* of the
semester in *Jimenez room (room 2208) in Stamp*. We will be hosting Dr.
Casey Rice Scott, a Chief Resident at UMD’s School of Medicine. Dr. Scott
will be talking about Family Medicine, Dr. Scott’s chosen specialty. If
you have any questions about this topic or if you just want to broaden your
medical knowledge, please come out to hear Dr. Scott’s talk!

Please note that prior to the beginning of the GBM, we will be having
our *Kaplan
Auction*. Basically, you get to bid for a Kaplan course, including courses
focused on the MCATs and DATs. However, the courses will not include
one-on-one private tutoring nor will it include Kaplan’s Summer Intensive
program. Bidding starts at just $100. Come out and buy Kaplan courses
that are worth thousands of dollars for just a couple hundred; it’s a
really great deal!

Additionally, an extra GBM point will be given to those who attend *HPAO’s
Returning Med Student Panel*, which will be located in *Tydings Hall (room
1102*) from *5:00pm - 6:30pm *on *Wednesday, November 5th*. The panel
includes current students from UMD’s, JHU’s, and USU’s School of Medicine.
These students will discuss their experiences in medical school, their
reflections on their undergraduate years, and what to do with gap years.
This is a great opportunity to hear about what you’re getting yourself into
and about what you need to do in order to achieve your goals/dreams!

Hope to see you all at these opportunistic events!
