Subject: Solicitation for undergraduate assistant - Summer 2015

Description:
I am a PhD doctoral candidate in the BEES program conducting a molecular
assessment of native and non-native populations of the potentially invasive
plant species, Mimulus guttatus (common monkeyflower). This work will take
place at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) in
Washington D.C., as well as the Museum Support Center (MSC) in Suitland,
Maryland. I will require at least one undergraduate assistant during the
summer of 2015 to aid me in this work. Qualified assistants will have
experience in molecular lab work, including PCR and gel electrophoresis, and
be proficient in Excel and Word. All potential assistants must be available
for 20 to 40 hours per week beginning in July and through August 2015. You
must also have reliable transportation to the NMNH and MSC each day, and some
weekend work will be required. This assistantship will result in research
credits (BSCI399), and valuable research experience at one of the premier
molecular labs in the United States. There is also a possibility that this
assistantship will continue into the fall semester 2015.
If qualified, please contact me at [log in to unmask] I will arrange interviews
in the upcoming weeks that will require you to present in advance your
unofficial transcript, CV and two letters of recommendation. Potential
assistants may then be asked to interview with Dr. Elizabeth Zimmer, primary
investigator for this project, at the NMNH.

Sincerely,
Jason Berg
