Subject: Fall Semester Internship at the Smithsonian National Museum of
Natural History
Description:
As we gear up to move the mollusk shell collection next year, we want to add
thousands of specimens to our database and stage them for incorporation.
Database incorporation would involve some expertise with MS Excel and a
desire to learn how to use our collections database K-EMu, a valuable tool
for a student to already have in their tool belt. Many of these specimens
need to be rehoused using archival containers, too.
The tasks are primarily based at the National Museum of Natural History on
the Mall. There are also a few projects that involve collections at the
Museum Support Center in Suitland, MD, where parking is free.
Interested students should contact Tim Coffer ([log in to unmask]), Logistics
Support Specialist andDry Collections Manager for the Department of
Invertebrate Zoology.
