Subject: Firefighters' Burn and Surgical Laboratory - volunteer

Description:
The Firefighters' Burn and Surgical Laboratory is a multi-facetted research
organization located on the campus of Medstar Washington Hospital Center
housing basic science, translational, and clinical research as it pertains to
burns, trauma, and critical care. Clinical research volunteers are actively
needed to oversee night and weekend critical care burn and trauma admissions
for clinical study enrollment as well as participate in multiple ongoing
projects in the lab.

Volunteers will gain experience working with nursing and physician staff
coordinating the collection of patient samples, familiarity with basic human
sample processing, and valuable experience working within both the research
and healthcare systems within a major hospital system.

Volunteers are required to be on-call and if necessary come into the lab for
at least 2 overnight shifts (8 to 12 hours) per month and one weekend shift.
You will be trained to work both in the clinical and laboratory environments.
It is recommended that applicants to this position have an interest in
biology, medicine, critical care, surgery, or nursing. Interested students
