HJF is seeking a Research Assistant (Laboratory) to support the Department
of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of Health Services
(USUHS), located in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical
and programmatic support services to the Department of Psychiatry.
*Responsibilities:*
1. Conduct relevant literature review and data analysis
2. Will be trained to perform behavioral testing using rodent models of
drug self-administration, fear and anxiety
3. Will be trained to perform molecular and biochemical assays including
ELISA, gene expression, Immunohistochemistry and brain imaging
4. Will assist Principal Investigator in data analysis and preparation
of final reports.
5. Performs other duties as needed.
*Required Knowledge. Skills, and Abilities**:* The incumbent must be
familiar with basic laboratory techniques, and experience with behavioral
testing using rodents is preferred. Knowledge of molecular biology,
including DNA/RNA extraction, gene expression, and protein biochemistry,
and experience in biostatistics, behavioral pharmacology, and experimental
psychology, is desirable.
*Minimum Education/Training & Experience Requirements**:* Bachelor's degree
with a background in psychology, neuroscience, or a closely related field
is required, with Master degree desirable. Candidate must have laboratory
and research experience.
*Minimum Experience*: 0 to 2 years laboratory experience.
*Work Environment**:* office and laboratory setting
