Subject: Program: 2016 US-UK Fulbright Summer Institutes
Description:
The US-UK Fulbright Commission 2016 UK Summer Institute application period is
open! These summer programmes provide the opportunity for US undergraduates
(aged over 18), with at least two years of undergraduate study left to
complete, to come to the UK on a three, four, five or six week academic and
cultural summer programme. Participants in these programmes will get the
opportunity to experience an exciting academic programme at a highly regarded
UK University, explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK and
develop their academic ability by improving presentation, research and
communication skills.
Applications are due: 23 or 26 February 2016 depending on the program.
Applications received after these dates will not be accepted. We require all
our participants on our Summer Institutes to have a minimum GPA of 3.7 when
they start the programme.
Theses Summer Programmes available for US students in 2016:
· AIFS Summer Institute at Shakespeare's Globe
· Durham University Summer Institute
· King's College London Summer Institute
· Queen's University Belfast Summer Institute
· Scotland Summer Institute
· University of Bristol Summer Institute
· University of Exeter Summer Institute
· Wales Summer Institute
Full details, selection criteria and application forms are available on our
website.

· Online application form:
The 2016 application form is now online. A link can be found on the
‘Applying’ tab of each Institute’s website. We highly recommend
students prepare a draft application with the form provided on the website.
Application instructions and FAQs are available for reference.
· Previous travel outside the US:
We state on our website that preference will be given to those who do not
have extensive, recent experience in the UK. While your experience in the UK
won’t preclude you from applying, you would be at a disadvantage. However,
a strong application wouldn’t prevent you from being selected. We encourage
anyone eligible and interested to apply for our awards.
Recommendations: Students should direct their references to the link on the
program webpage for an online reference form. All references should be
completed using this form.
