Subject: Tutor elementary students in the Langley Park Area: Join En Camino!

Description:
En Camino Con La Comunidad is a tutoring program of the Lutheran Campus
Ministry at the University of Maryland designed for elementary school
students ranging from pre-school to sixth grade. The children participating
in En Camino come from homes where the primary language is Spanish.  Most of
the parents have very limited English skills so even when there is a great
desire to assist their children with homework they have difficulty in doing
so.

Tutors will be matched with a group of students to help them with their
homework assignments, reading and math skills, as well as to engage the
children in arts, crafts and games.  The program is held in the community
room of the University Landing Apartments.  A van for volunteers will leave
the Memorial Chapel at 3:00 p.m. every Wednesday, starting February 8.  We
will leave the community room at 5:10 p.m. and the vans will drop volunteers
off near their dorms by 5:30 p.m. We welcome volunteers who can only come for
one week as well as those who can commit to the whole semester.
