Subject: March 1st Deadline: Undocumented Students and Applying for State Aid
in Maryland
Description:
There is now official guidance from the Maryland Higher Education Commission
(MHEC) regarding how undocumented students can pursue any form of state aid
from Maryland. They confirmed and shared the following information:
Maryland State Financial Aid Application (MSFAA)
MHEC has deployed the MSFAA online through the MDCAPS (it is now live!)
The MHEC website has been updated to include information on
the MSFAA as well as a FAQ guide
A MSFAA User Guide has been created and is in the process of being updated
to the website before the end of the week.
Please see the following link for more information and the essential FAQs
regarding applying for Aid:
FAQs for MSFAA
This is certainly something that will take some time to work through, but at
least it will give us a starting point and I sincerely hope that some of you
or folks that you know will meet the qualifications and be able to secure
some form of funding. It is important to note that the MSFAA that has been
launched is for the 2019-2020 academic year and it has a March 1st deadline.
I would suggest sharing the information widely (especially the FAQs) so that
peers can determine if they would be able to qualify or not.
Please let us know any questions that you may have and we will certainly be
willing to assist in finding out the answers from our colleagues at MHEC.
