Subject: opportunity for UMD coders

Description:
The United States Diplomacy Center is partnering with World Resources
Institute to host our first hackathon, ImpactHack (ImpactHack.DevPost.com).
The goal is to make topics of global consequence -- diplomacy, development,
and the environment -- more understandable to the public through
data-visualization. ImpactHack will connect 100+ developing technologists
with subject matter experts to expand their skills, problem-solving and
creativity. This is a good opportunity for students connect with the State
Department and utilize the World Resource Institute’s leading data experts.
We think we can reach new audiences and inspire them to utilize technology
for positive influence.

ImpactHack will kick off the evening of Friday September 21st in the
Diplomacy Center at the Department of State, where students can meet mentors,
hear from tech leaders, and receive the prompts to begin brainstorming.
Saturday is a full day of hacking at World Resources Institute, with winners
announced at the close.

The United States Diplomacy Center is the first museum and education center
dedicated to telling the story of American diplomacy. The Center’s mission
is to inspire discovery of how diplomacy shapes our nation's prosperity and
security.

The World Resources Institute is a global research organization that spans
more than 60 countries. Their more than 700 experts and staff work closely
with leaders to turn big ideas into action to sustain Earth’s natural
resources—the foundation of economic opportunity and human well-being.

Hackathon sign ups close at the end of the week, so sign up now at
