Subject: Men’s Running Shoe Optimization Study
Description:
Participate in a research study on optimizing running shoes by Dr. Jae Kun
Shim, Dr. Ross H. Miller, and Edward Chu in the Dept. of Kinesiology at
University of Maryland, College Park.
Who is eligible?
We are seeking male runners who are between the ages of 18 and 50, who fit
into a men’s US shoe size 9, 10, 11, or 12, who run at least 16 miles/week
(25km/week), who categorize themselves as rearfoot strikers, and who do not
have a history of lower extremity injuries, neurological or orthopedic
disorders
What is the task?
The testing will consist of walking and running in lab shoes, with and
without added weight (weighted vest) provided by the lab while being recorded
with a 3D motion camera capture system and metabolic unit.
What is the time commitment?
Participants will come into the lab (School of Public Health Building) for 1
testing session lasting around 4 hours.
