Subject: TERPS IN SPACE ORIENTATION LOCATION CHANGE (THIS TUES)
Description:
Are you interested in designing an experiment that will fly to space?
Be part of Terps in Space Mission 13, launching this Fall 2018!
We are seeking freshmen, sophomores and juniors interested in research. No
previous background in research is required. Students will be selected on a
first-come, first-served basis. Register by September 17th! Sign-up at
terpsinspace.umd.edu or go directly to the form here:

MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Our information session/orientation to kick-off the
program will be SEPTEMBER 18th, from 6:30-8:30PM in BRB1101. Our UMD director
and the creator of the program from NCESSE will present your Mission!
You’ll be part of Terps in Space, a program where students compete by
writing experiment proposals to test the effect of microgravity on a
phenomenon of their choice. The winning proposal is granted the program
funding to FLY their experiment to THE INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION!
Astronauts will interact with your mini-experiment as you instruct during the
4-6 weeks it is in low orbit and then it will return to Earth for further
analysis and conclusions you make.
Student teams are made up of 2-4 students. You can assemble your own team
ahead of time and provide us names of your teammates or sign up as an
individual and we will assign you to a team! Each team will be assigned a
research mentor, a UMD faculty member or graduate student, who will give
weekly advice on proposal writing and experiment design.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity! It will enhance your experimental
design skills, test your implementation abilities, and give you the
experience of a lifetime! Winners and finalists are also provided the
opportunity to present at the National Student Spaceflight Experiment Program
Conference at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. in
the Spring! Sign-up now! If you have any questions, email us at
