Subject: XDBio Graduate Program at Hopkins

Description:
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is launching a cross-disciplinary biomedical
graduate program that leverages the research expertise of our life
scientists, engineers, computational scientists, and clinicians. Bright,
ambitious undergraduates, master’s students, and research associates
interested in doing a PhD are invited to apply to XDBio, the Cross
Disciplinary Graduate Program in the Biomedical Sciences at the Johns Hopkins
University School of Medicine.

This graduate program in cross disciplinary research will enroll exceptional
students who have a substantial research background and are ready to launch
to independence. Students will have the choice of over 100 advisors and be in
lab from their first day at Hopkins. The XDBio program has three major
pillars:
1. XDBio students will be mentored by two faculty advisors in cross
disciplinary areas of research,
2. Students will have an individualized curriculum focused on acquisition of
specialized knowledge related to their thesis work, without compromising time
available for lab-based training, and
3. All funding for the five-year duration of the PhD is provided by the
program, separate from the funding of the thesis lab, allowing students to
freely identify mentors and co-mentors to support implementation of their
creative ideas.

The first class will matriculate in Fall of 2019, and we will be accepting
applications until Dec 1, 2018.

Information on the program can be found at the XDBio website:
www.xdbio.jhmi.edu.
