Dear Student,
The University of Maryland is encouraging eligible students facing financial
distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption of university
operations to apply for assistance through the federal Coronavirus Aid,
Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Students who wish to apply must
fill out the application and provide a statement about how the COVID-19
situation and the disruption of campus operations resulted in financial
hardship.

Eligible students may use the funds for expenses such as food, housing,
course materials, technology, health care, and child care. Detailed

Eligible students who already received the UMD CARES Act Emergency Financial
Aid Grant based on their 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) and are still experiencing financial distress caused by the COVID-19
campus disruption can also complete the application here
