Subject: How can you be a part of the democratic process in Fall 2020?

Description:
Hey Terps, the 2020 Election season is here! Want to get involved but don’t
know how? Check out these great opportunities to be a part of this momentous
occasion!

Serve as an Election Judge, Challenger/Watcher, or Registration Volunteer for
the State of Maryland Board of Elections
https://elections.maryland.gov/get_involved/index.html

Election Judges - Without them, there would be no elections! Election judges
are the individuals who check in voters, provide instructions and answer
questions, and generally monitor the activities in the polling place. This is
a PAID role. Must be a registered voter in Maryland.

Challengers and Watchers - Make sure that voting procedures are being
followed and people are treated fairly! These authorized individuals can be
in early voting vote centers and polling places and observe activities.

Voter Registration - Do you want to help register people to vote? Voter
registration distributors are trained to assist people with registering to
vote and delivering completed applications to a county board of elections.

Serve in the TerpsVote Voting Ambassador Program
Did you know that less than 40% of registered CMNS students voted in 2018?
You can help get more CMNS students to vote in 2020!

TerpsVote Voting Ambassadors are UMD students who are passionate about
engaging their peers in the voting process for the Fall 2020 election. Voting
Ambassadors will be knowledgeable about the voting procedures for college
students and will serve as a resource to their peers to help promote voting.
Participate in this program remotely from wherever you reside!

The program will run from September 20 - November 7, 2020.

Voting Ambassadors will be responsible for:
- Attending training and an initial meeting during the week of September 20.
- Understanding the procedures for registration and voting in MD, as well as
other states from which UMD students come from, including New York, New
Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Massachusetts, as well as where to get
information about elections in those (and other) states.
- Making a commitment to non-partisan activities. Voting Ambassadors cannot
promote individual candidates, parties, and issues while serving with
TerpsVote, but will connect students to information from non-partisan
sources.
- Completing weekly tasks to help inform their fellow students about
important voting information, including registration deadlines,
absentee/mail-in ballot information, where to find resources to get informed
to vote, etc. Weekly tasks may include:
     - Posting TerpsVote branded content on social media
     - Making class announcements about voting
     - Talk about voting with a student organization of which they are a
member
     - Communicating individually with students to help them through the
voting
process
     - Completing weekly reporting to collect data of the reach of their
efforts
