Subject: Eta Sigma Gamma Menstrual Product Drive
Description:
Hello,
I am reaching out to you on behalf of the Epsilon Chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma,
a National Health Education Honorary consisting of students from the
University of Maryland’s School of Public Health. We are working in
collaboration with Girls Helping Girls Period to bring an end to period
poverty in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. At Girls Helping Girls
Period, they believe feminine hygiene is a matter of basic health and human
dignity. They’re dedicated to educating people on the need, and
collecting/distributing products. Together, we are asking for monetary
donations to purchase period packs for girls living in poverty. The products
will be distributed to women in need in the DC and Prince George’s County
areas.
Girls Helping Girls Period uses donations to create boxes with organic period
products to distribute to girls in need. Each box costs $3.50 to make and
allows a girl to be prepared for one month. Our goal is to raise $175 to
create 50 kits for 50 girls. We want to engage the UMD community as much as
possible, and we hope that students, friends, and family will be able to
donate here: bepreparedperiod.com/donate/esg-period-drive/
Thank you again for your time and consideration. We are excited to bring the
University of Maryland community together to do our part to end period
poverty.
“This problem needs recognition from anyone. It’s not just about girls
helping girls, it’s about everyone helping each other.” - Quinn Joy,
Girls Helping Girls Period Co-Founder.
Wishing health and wellness,
The Eta Sigma Gamma Team
