Subject: Recruiting students to virtually judge middle school student STEM
projects

Description:
Recruiting faculty, staff, and students from University of Maryland to
virtually judge middle school student STEM projects for a National STEM
Competition, eCYBERMISSION.

The COVID-19 pandemic presents unique challenges in continuing volunteer work
as many opportunities are no longer available. eCYBERMISSION offers
exceptional, flexible, and 100% VIRTUAL online volunteer opportunities.

eCYBERMISSION, an Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) project, is an
annual web-based STEM competition for 6th to 9th grade students that promotes
teamwork, self-discovery, and the real-life applications of STEM. Teams of
2, 3, or 4 students, with the help of a Team Advisor, create projects that
identify and solve problems in their community while competing for State,
Regional, and National Awards.

We have several volunteer opportunities available. These opportunities are
100% virtual and flexible which makes them a perfect fit for faculty, staff,
and students from University of Maryland.

Virtual Judges provide comments and scores on 10 – 15 student Mission
Folders (student submissions). This entirely virtual role is active for two
weeks, March 16-31, 2021, and can accommodate any schedule within that time
frame. Serving as a Virtual Judge is an excellent opportunity to help shape
the next generation of STEM students before they even arrive at University of
Maryland.

Student Virtual Judges typically comment and score 5 – 10 student Mission
Folders. This entirely virtual role is active during the same time period as
the Virtual Judge role and can accommodate any schedule during that time
frame. Serving as a Student Virtual Judge is an excellent opportunity for
students to gain valuable experience grading student submissions and
providing feedback in the scientific and engineering fields. In addition,
students may earn volunteer service hours.

I invite you to visit our website, www.ecybermission.com, to learn more about
this amazing STEM competition for middle school students and to see how
University of Maryland can help support the over 18,000 students
participating in the competition.

Volunteer registration is open now at https://www.ecybermission.com/Register
and ends on March 12, 2021.
