Subject: Neuroimaging Study- Participants Needed!
Description:
This research is being conducted by Professors Yasmeen Faroqi-Shah and Robert
Slevc at the University of Maryland, College Park. The purpose of this
research project is to determine how speech and language are processed by the
brain.
The procedures involve listening/reading to sentences and describing pictures
sentences while brain activity and face movements are recorded. The
Magnetoencephalograpy (MEG) device will be used to monitor your brainwaves
and electrodes on your face will measure your face movements when you speak.
This procedure is completely non-invasive and painless. You might be asked to
evaluate and answer questions about the sentences/pictures that are
presented. Prior to entering the MEG chamber, you will be required to remove
all metal from your person (since metal interferes with the MEG recording).
You will complete a COVID-19 screening checklist to ensure your safety and
the safety of others. You will be compensated at an hourly rate ($20/hr) for
your participation, whether or not the trial is completed. This study should
last approximately 1.5 hours. Scheduling for your visit is flexible!
