We would like to invite you to apply to become a member of the UMD chapter of
the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society. Mortar Board
recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership,
and service provides opportunities for continued leadership development,
promotes service to college and universities, and encourages lifelong
contributions to the global community.

With Adele H. Stamp founding the University of Maryland chapter in 1934,
Mortar Board is one of the premier national honor societies on campus
recognizing college seniors for superior achievement in scholarship,
leadership, and service. Only top students are accepted to join this esteemed
society, making it one of the most prestigious organizations on campus.
Mortar Board is one of only five honor/leadership societies recognized by
President Pines during graduation commencement ceremonies.

Membership will only be given to students who truly exemplify excellence in
Leadership, Service, and Scholarship. If you are planning to continue
studying at the University of Maryland for at least one more full term, then
I highly encourage you to apply for membership into Mortar Board.
Unfortunately, those graduating in December 2022 would not be eligible for
selection.

The deadline to apply this fall is November 19th at 11:59pm.

We will hold an initiation ceremony for candidates selected for admittance
into the organization on December 4th virtually with other chapters across
the country. Selected candidates will receive an email extending an
invitation of membership prior to initiation!  We look forward to your
