Subject: Are you a life sciences major interested in learning how to code and
learn Python?

Description:
Given the integration of technology and big data with the sciences and its
impact on society, as well as the major pivot to remote and simulated
research caused by the pandemic, learning basic programming is becoming a
critical skill for students in the life sciences. BSCI238F is a Fall 2021
one-credit, student-taught course (STIC) for undergraduate life sciences
students with little-to-no programming experience who are looking to start
building a strong computational foundation starting with Python. The course
will also explore how programming is used in the broader context of the life
sciences, research, and healthcare, while also touching on ethical coding,
the issues around big data and data privacy, and how they overlap with the
responsibilities of a scientist. Students will also leave this course with an
understanding of how programming can fit into their career plans.

While the course is currently has very few/no open seats, the course
facilitator will be keeping all interested students (registrants and
waitlisted) up-to-date about the course in case any more seats open up. Sign
