Subject: Summer and Gap Year Opportunities at the Buck Institute

Description:
The Buck Institute’s summer internship and gap-year programs offer
undergraduate students the opportunity to investigate insights into the
critical molecular and biological drivers of aging as well as translation of
that research into new therapies which will improve healthspan. Both programs
emphasize laboratory and communication skills training, such as a mock grant
proposal and research presentations. Graduating seniors can apply to the
internship program, and the gap-year program is designed to accommodate time
for applications and interviews during the research. International students
are encouraged to apply to both programs.

Research topics include:

• Age-dependent neurodegenerative diseases
• Autophagy and cellular homeostasis
• Cellular metabolism and senescence
• Computational analysis of aging and disease
• Neuroinflammation and the microbiome
• Ovarian aging
