Dr. Zuyi (Jacky) Huang in the Department of Chemical Engineering at
Villanova University has an Ph.D. position available at the beginning of
the coming January (i.e., Jan of 2018). The PhD candidate should have a
B.S. or M.S. degree in chemical engineering or biology-related disciplines.
Potential projects are related to, but not limited to, experimental and
modeling research for antimicrobial compound discovery and immune-systems
modeling. The on-going projects in Dr. Huang’s Systems Biology group
include: 1) studying the metabolism of biofilm-associated pathogens; 2)
modeling the signal transduction pathways of acute phase response; 3)
scaling up bioreactors (e.g., microbial fuel cells and Ambr 15) using
computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approaches. Preference will be given to
the candidates with M.S. degree and microbial experiment experience.
