Process Design for JP8 Production from Biomass Feedstocks

 

A post-doctoral research position is available in the laboratories of
Professors Michael A. Henson and George W. Huber in the Chemical Engineering
Department at the University of Massachusetts. The research involves the
development and evaluation of process design methodologies for conversion of
biomass feedstocks to the jet fuel JP8. This project is funded by DARPA
through a subcontract from Logos Technologies. Close interactions with
academic and industrial collaborators will be required. Candidates with a
Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related field and the following
background are sought: (1) liquid biofuels process technologies; (2) process
modeling and design; and (3) dynamic process simulation and optimization.

 

The position is available starting March 1, 2009 for a period of one year. A
12-18 month extension is possible with satisfactory progress and
availability of funds. The stipend and benefits are competitive. Please send
