United Technologies Research Center currently has several openings in
control system research and development. Individuals are encouraged to
apply for a position as a senior, staff, or principal engineer in the
area of constrained nonlinear controls applied to UTC building systems,
power systems, and aerospace products.
This position requires an MA/MS degree in engineering or mathematics.
The preferred qualifications are a PhD degree in engineering.
Expertise is sought in control system development for uncertain plants
with input and state constraints. Expertise is also sought in the area
dynamic process modeling. Specific focal areas include receding horizon
control, hybrid systems analysis and control, multivariable control,
real-time constrained optimization, and validation and verification
(V&V). Experience with observer design, parameter identification,
real-time embedded systems, and hardware-in-the-loop testing is highly
desired. Strong teaming and communications skills, together with an
entrepreneurial attitude towards innovation, are essential. Demonstrated
success in interactions with US Government funding agencies (e.g. AFOSR,
NSF, ARO, ONR, DARPA) is a plus.
United Technologies Research Center is located in East Hartford,
Connecticut, within close proximity to Boston, New York City, and the
rich cultural and outdoor destinations found throughout New England.
