MIT is offering a short program on “Energy, Sustainability, and Life
Cycle Assessment” on June 11-13, 2012, in Cambridge, MA. The instructors
are Bhavik Bakshi of The Ohio State University, Tim Gutowski of MIT, and
Dusan Sekulic of the University of Kentucky, who are co-authors of a new
book, “Thermodynamics and the Destruction of Resources”

This class addresses three aspects of sustainability from an engineering
perspective: 1) energy resource analysis, 2) material resource analysis
(including carbon, water, and nitrogen), and 3) life cycle assessment.
Examples will be taken from diverse areas with special attention to
current and emerging chemical and manufacturing processes, exergy
analysis, and product analysis.
