The Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (CBE) at Rutgers University-New Brunswick seeks outstanding applicants for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at any level. Applicants should have a PhD in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline, a record of excellence in research, and a commitment to teaching and working with a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students.

Candidates in all areas of chemical engineering research will be considered. We are especially interested in candidates whose work will synergize with existing expertise of the department. Those who work on computational topics and mathematical modelling would especially align with departmental priorities. Current research in the department is clustered in the areas of: life sciences (biotechnology, biomolecular engineering, protein engineering), nanostructured materials, energy and sustainability, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Specific research programs cover topics such as catalysis, renewable energy, multiphase flows, complex fluids, biomaterials, nanomaterials, soft matter, drug delivery, metabolic engineering, biomass conversion, biomanufacturing, granular materials, multiscale molecular modeling, process systems engineering, and process optimization.

CBE has 250 undergraduates and 130 graduate students, 21 tenured/ tenure-track faculty, and one full-time teaching professor. Our location in central New Jersey places us in the heart of one of the nation’s most active industrial and pharmaceutical corridors, in close proximity to globally established pharmaceutical companies, burgeoning biotech startups, and advanced manufacturing industries. Excellent research facilities are available via a variety of collaborative centers, institutes, and core facilities on campus, including the Center for Integrative Proteomics Research, Rutgers Energy Institute, Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems, Catalyst Manufacturing Center, Institute for Materials Research, Cancer Institute of New Jersey, and the worldwide Protein Data Bank, among many others. Faculty have access to a wide array of high performance computing (HPC) resources, including a supercomputing cluster and two HPC cluster infrastructures that offer both general access computing and condominium-style node hosting.

About Rutgers University and Rutgers School of Engineering (SOE)
Rutgers University-New Brunswick (RU-NB), the premier public research university in New Jersey, is a member of the Association of American Universities and the Big Ten Academic Alliance. RU-NB has 50,000 students and 6,800 faculty members organized across 17 schools and colleges, including schools of pharmacy and medicine. Regionally located near New York, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Boston, Rutgers Engineering has close ties to local, national, and international industry. SOE enrolls 5,000 undergraduate, masters, and doctoral students in seven academic departments, and has 150 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 13 full-time teaching faculty, and nearly $70 million in research expenditures. We have a vibrant academic community with students and faculty committed to engineering excellence.

CBE and SOE embrace diversity and seek candidates who will create a climate that attracts students of all races, nationalities and genders. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities to apply.
